What are some diet routines used in the Weight Watchers Diet?

I am looking into starting on weight watchers when I return from an out of town trip. What is diets like? What kind of foods do you eat? What are some example meals that you eat daily? With moderate amount of exercise and sticking to the diet, what kind of average results should I expect? Any other information about Weight Watchers would be greatly appreciated.

Their Core Plan rocks!! I lost an average of a pound a week (over a 6 month period) when I was following it. I found it was not very restrictive, as I was able to eat all I wanted of the foods on the list of Core foods. You are allowed a point value of non-core foods per week, it is up to you how you use those points. If you exercise you are allowed extra points per week.

What ended up happening for me is that now even though I don’t follow the plan anymore it taught me to limit and budget for “naughty” foods once in awhile, without totally cutting them off from my normal diet.

It’s not really a matter of a diet, but with every food having a point value. Veggies usually have a 0 point value, while 4 oz. of chicken may have a 2 point value. (I don’t know for sure…this is just to create an example.) They just set a point value for how many points you can have per day…so if you’ve used up all your points for the day, you have to drink water and eat veggies to fill your tummy. Usually I think a piece of cake has about 4-5 points, just for reference…so you’d have to eat better foods all day long if you wanted to have something yummy for dessert. It’s pretty much common sense to me, but I’ve known a few people that have used this program successfully. Good luck to you!!
